Until December

Here is some lovely NRG Industrial pop.. Can that be? Well, you decide.

Gothic Industrial NRG at its best!

They were a duo from San Fran, and played to DEATH at one of my favorite clubs in Long Island "Paris New York" Ohh those days..

Member Adam Sherburne later formed the band Consolidated in the 1990s. Bryan Weisberg later formed Maximillion's Motorcycle Club. Greg(Auggie)Senzer former drummer owns and operates a motorcycle customizing shop and plays with several bay area bands.

Here is my collection just for you..

Rockets

Put Kraftwerk & DEVO in a swirly wind tunnel, and sprinkle some Disco Italo Vocorder space rock and you get.....

ROCKETS!

ROCKETS history starts in Paris (France), in the year 1972, when they were known under the name CRYSTAL. In 1974, they changed their name to ROCKET MEN (or ROCKETTERS) as five aliens, bald, with grey eyes, silver skin and space suits, recording the single 'Rocket Man' produced by Claude Lemoine, who would become their producer 'til 1983.
In 1975, they changed their name in ROCKETS and recorded a single 'Future woman'. In 1976, their first LP entitled, 'Rockets' was released in France, and the group launched a series of phantasmagoric live shows which involved vocoder, lasers, coloured lights, smoke and a bazooka fighting flames three.

Digital Emotion

Back in the day NYC had a huge Electro Disco/Freestyle scene. Groups like New Order and The Petshop Boys used to troll these cool clubs like The Funhouse and Peppermint Lounge and "borrow" electronic ideas..

Here is a great release by Digital Emotion, a Dutch Electronic Disco trio.. Had a minor hit with "Don't Stop". Loads of vocorders, tin-y beats, and pure cheezy spacey electro brilliance..

Van Kaye & Ignit

Here you go..

I HATE CONVERTING CASSETTE'S TO MP3!!!

I remember getting this gem at "Artiificial Eye" a little booth in the Kensington Market in London. This little store was jam packed with awesomely curated cassette's, gear, and unique objects D' art!!..
Looking through my one HUMUNGOUS box of cassettes, I forgot I owned these, I will be posting some more of the "Artificial Eye" comps and groups in the near future..

Van Kaye & Ignit was a minimal wave trio formed in the early 1980's in Holland. Not your typical Klang-y, tinny, experimental/industrial/synth outfit..

Amanda Lear

Of course you knew..
But if you didn't.

Born in 1946 Hong-Kong.. from a French-English father and an Asian-Russian mother.
She was raised in South of France and moved to Paris to make a career in painting.
She became a top model and one of Salvador Dali's Muses. She posed as the "lady with the panther" on the famous cover of Roxy Music's "For Your Pleasure" album of 1973. Then David Bowie fell in love with her and she began her career as a disco singer. To create more hype about her they invented the story that she is a transexual!!
Since the early 80's she has presented TV broadcast in Italy, France and Germany.

Amanda's music is a hypnotic force to be reckoned with. That deep trance inducing voice, those swirly sleezy disco beats. How can you go wrong?

Here is the out of print Super 20 CD. All her kitch ass hits just for you!

It is NOT all about the GYRATE Lp..

Although GYRATE is a great (over rated) album, to me it all about CHOMP!

Chomp has all the manic experimental New Wave goodness that is done with such articulate perfection. Hey DFA.. why didn't you re-release this gem too?!!

Pylon hail from Athens, GA, like REM and B52's.

It's a classic.. Come get it!!

Thomas Leer & Robert Rental

This awesome deep dark gem was recorded for Throbbing Gristle's Industrial Records label in 1979. I picked this up in the mid 80's at Bleeker Bob's during my hardcore TG/Psychic TV phase.. There was this tall blond skinhead who was in the group "God is my Co-pilot" who worked at BB's, swore up and down that I needed it for my collection. I wasn't a fan at the initial listening, but I recently really grew to enjoy the complexities of this coldnoise treasure!

Sounds like Soft Cell and Cabaret Voltaire recorded in the TG studios while tripping hard..

"Recording info. This album was recorded at home on 8 track equipment, provided for us by Industrial Records. It was produced in the two weeks dating 18th June to 2nd July. All blips and un seemly noises were generated by refridgerators & other domestic appliances & are intrinsic to the music. Special Thanks to Throbbing Gristle for their help & encouragement throughout."

I picked this nugget up about 7 years ago at Bleeker Bobs discount bin for $15.00.. It goes for up to $150.00 now.. WHY?
Lucky you know me!

Check out this slice of synth goodness from France. Perfect pure pop that's reminiscent of Kraftwerk/Disco/Vo-coder/Sleeze or a bastardization of...

Witches & Waveforms

Daphne, Louise, and Delia!

Three very unique chicks.

Starting with:

Daphne Oram - Electronic Sound Patterns 1-3 - 1962 - UK

Daphne worked for the BBC from 1943 firstly as a sound engineer, and then as the co-founder and Director of the "Radiophonic Workshop" from 1958 until she set up her own studio Folly Tower, so that she could make her own music, not just creating sounds to be used as special effects. She also created a musical machine that converted pictures into sound, known as 'Oramics' which she later continued working on, with the onset of the home computer revolution in 1981.

Dreamy short Sci-Fi bursts of electronic goodness.

Then there is..

Delia Derbyshire - Inventions For Radio - Dreams - 1964 - UK

The creator of the "Doctor Who" theme. This British bird laid out advanced electronic soundscapes from the 50's till her death in 2001. Shortly before Delia died, she wrote the following: "Working with people like Sonic Boom on pure electronic music has re-invigorated me.. Us too D!

Thanks to Moogoo who had these recordings on SlSk.

Then there is one of my favorite all time Lp's ever recorded..

Louise Huebner - Seduction Through Witchcraft Lp - 1969 - US

Louise Huebner the Official Witch of Los Angeles County is the only officially appointed Official Witch in the World. In fact she is the only officially appointed Official Witch in the entire Cosmos.

You will be caught up in her wacky orgy spells, and that voice! I never heard of her until I came across this Lp in a Miami thrift store in the early 90's. Rosemary's baby meets Lydia Lunch without the noise..
Watch out.. she makes witchcraft trippy and sleezy, approach with care...

Age of Chance

Such an exciting time 1986-87 was. Lots of spandex, lots of make-up... Lots of noise!!!

Big bad noise!!

Age of Chance! Cycling gear as a fashion statement!

Pumping out punk rap metal hip-hop industrial beat to sheer perfection..

Kissed by The Designers Republic provide an ultra-strong graphic identity to the band's record sleeves.

I saw them play here in NYC at the infamous Ritz, for a 25 minute set not even an encore.. Verry balsy.. verry BRITISH.. VERRY I-d..

Kiem

K.I.E.M. is an abbreviation of "Klank Improvisatie Elektronische Muziek" (Sound Improvisation Electronic Music). Formed in 1982 in Rotterdam (always a great place for interesting rhythms)from oil drums, chains metal bins, anvils, anchors and other scraps from a wrecked tow-boat..

Kiem's sound is like a intelligent New Wave version of Test Dept, with some goofy humor thrown in the mix.

I remember getting this and a good chunk of my collection at Slipped Disc Records of Valley Stream NY, a great Metal store with a well curated New Wave section..

Francis Rimbert

This french born synthesieur pumps out some dreamy kitchy disco jams that will delight most synth fans.

In collaboration with Korg, they created a new concept which had not existed ever before: Francis took the stage (Theatre des Champs Elysées – Paris) solo, surrounded by all his synthesizers (Bionic Orchestra, 1979). He will be the go-to man for both Roland and Ensoniq trades.

Francis wasted little time getting to meet another master of the synthesizer: Jean Michel Jarre, through their mutual friend Michel Geiss. Meeting in 1979 for the concert in Place de La Concorde, Paris, they began a long collaboration. Since the 1986 Rendez-vous Houston concert, Francis has been at Jarre’s side on grand stages.
