Shop Assistants

The Shop Assistants were an indie pop band from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 1984, initially as Buba & The Shop Assistants. Soon after their first 7" release ("Something To Do" in 1984) Vocalist Aggi left and went on to play in a number of other bands including The Sugarcubes and The Pastels.

Aggi was replaced by Alex Taylor and the band released their Shopping Parade EP in 1985 to great acclaim scoring success in the independent charts.

In 1986 lead singer Alex left the band to form the Motorcycle Boy in 1987 with members of Meat Whiplash.

If your a fan of Fuzzpop, Shop Assistants deliver an intelligent indie Shangri-Las if they grew up in late '70s New York and hung out at CBGB's...

Great stuff The Shop Assistants! By the way - is there a password for this file? It asked me for one for the Shop Assistants 7" (the album came through ok). Thanks again for these.

I get an error for the 7" too. I suppose I will never hear these sweet sounds.

Retry.. Retry.. Retry...

that makes no sense that the 7" folder will not open..

It was all compressed together, and works fine on my end..

I'll re-up in a couple of days if the problem persists..

Oh man thank god! I'd been trying and failing to find their stuff on CD or otherwise... only had a track or two on comps. Which I loved.
