Screamers were a punk rock group active in the Los Angeles, California area in the late 1970s.
Fronted by the openly gay Tomata du Plenty, Screamers influenced most of the west coast punk bands of that era. More synth driven than any other "punk" bands, Screamers have a unique aggro sound of their own. Officially the pioneers of a genre now known as synthpunk.
Du Plenty (born David Xavier Harrigan in 1948, died 2000), a veteran of the theatrical drag troupes The Cockettes and Ze Whiz Kidz, first collaborated with the Screamers' principal songwriter Tommy Gear (then using the name "Melba Toast") in Seattle in 1975, as The Tupperwares. The lineup of the Tupperwares included Gear, Du Plenty, and Rio de Janeiro on vocals, backed by Pam Lillig and Ben Rabinowitz (later of The Girls), as well as Bill Rieflin (later of The Blackouts and Ministry) and a teenage Eldon Hoke (later known as "El Duce" of The Mentors).
Though they developed a substantial following and generated considerable press coverage, the Screamers never released a record.
All tracks recorded "live" in one session in Summer 1978. Produced By Geza X, recorded on a 4-track. The ideal intro to the Screamers. A high pitched whine is audible, but does not distract from overall good sound quality. A valid complaint, though, is the splitting of "122 Hours of Fear" in half over the seam of both sides of the record.
A cult mid 80's Croatian synthpop duo, in the most successful years comprised of the mastermind Davor Tolja and the vocalist Marina Perazić. After the second album, Ja Sam Lažljiva, Marina quit to pursue a solo career and was replaced by someone else..
I feel that any synth pop sung in a foreign language is always charming. D&D deliver fluffy rich 80's formulaic synth that will bore you to death, and captivate your electronic senses..
Rolly-polly fish heads Are never seen drinking cappuccino In Italian restaurants, With Oriental women... yeah!
Barnes & Barnes, fictional twin brothers Art Barnes and Artie Barnes (Bill Mumy and Robert Haimer, respectively), are a "novelty rock" duo based in "Lumania", a fictional mythological civilization (similar to Lemuria or Atlantis).
I was OBSESSED with them as a young teen, they were my Zappa period...
With their casio tone beats and ridiculous lyrics, this is a must for all you fans seeking silly and synthy New Wave moments..
I can't find my old B&B Lp's but here is the best of, this was also a limited Rhino VHS release, and someone has posted all the file info here
Formed in Cologne, Germany, the core of Gina X Performance comprised charismatic Gina Kikoine (vocals and lyrics) and writer-producer-musician Zeus B. Held. Between 1979 and 1984 the group released four albums of sleezy arthouse electro-disco.
"Gina Kikoine's voice is spectral, witchy and quite compelling. Beneath the disingenuous Euro-disco surface there's a lot to absorb" (Melody Maker, August 1980)"
"Like an artier Moroder, the noirish synth-funk textures provide the iciliy futuristic backdrop for gender-bending tales. 4 stars" (Uncut magazine, 06/05); "Pioneering electro-pop - hints of Kraftwerk, Nico and Studio 54-era Grace Jones" (Mojo, 09/05); "Did you ever wonder where Grace Jones and Miss Kittin learned all their moves? Look no further than Gina X Performances's 1979 electro new wave classic...
Today I have the first three Lp releases of this genius collective of pure sexual throb beat disco...
Mute Records founder Daniel Miller had a fun idea... He had already made a synth/post punk masterpiece as The Normal with "Warm Leatherette", and he wanted to do something less dark and more fun. So he "put together" a fictitious group of synthos called Silicon Teens. ST recorded and released "Music For Parties" in 1980. This contains covers of 50s and 60s hits and a couple of originals played with synth and drum machines. Cheesy, light synth pop...
Jack The Tab/Tekno Acid Beat is an album of material by Psychic TV & friends released under the guise of a various artists compilation album.
Genesis P Orridge, Dave Ball, and Richard Norris, collided and wrote these tryped out indie rave / acid house nuggets. This double disc compilation collects all the tracks from the two fake compilations released by Psychic TV - Jack the Tab & Tekno Acid Beat, with extra tracks...
Get it?
Soon after Genesis replaced all his teeth with gold, and got some new titties, and Dave Ball & Richard Norris formed The Grid...
A staple for all you electronic beat freeks~
V/A - Jack The Tab / Tekno Acid Beat CD - 1990 - US
David Vorhaus established this trio in 1968. WN today are still releasing occasional albums, and playing occasional concerts, when the fancy takes them.
...like the Orb, but darker and more psychedelic...'

Quirky, kitchy, sometimes tacky, scary and synthy.. All the stuff I love and hopefully you.
An awesome synth treat, this Lp got me through the awkward teen years.. really!
Andrew had respectfully requested me to take down the DL links..
Andrew Szava-Kovats!
Born of Hungarian immigrants in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Andrew is settled now in Massachusetts, where he writes and records in his home-based digital recording studio.
Data-Bank-A - is some great gothic synth pop, this is mostly solo, but has at various times become an ensemble of 4 musicians for recording and touring. This project has recorded 12 releases for 3 labels and toured New England and Germany. The sound has been compared to Severed Heads, Fad Gadget, Gary Numan, Sisters of Mercy...
Its just some great EBM.
Andrew is free to negotiate the release of new work under his own name and any previous band names. He also retains rights to the back catalog on other labels (now out-of-print). You can reach him @ trueagerecords@comcast.net
First off.. I would like to thank Craig A in NYC for this very generous gift.
This is the first solo release by Chris Carter during his TG period, at Industrial Records studio. Originally released in 1980 on cassette by Industrial Records.
A marvelous moment in the early industrial scene..
I think CC has a thing for the crotch area..

Kebekelektrik is purported to come from "Quebec Electric."
Kebekelektrik AKA Gino Soccio is often mistaken as a European artist. Perhaps because of his euro-disco sounds? In fact Gino is a French Canadian, who was born in Montreal and now resides in Quebec.
Come revel in Gino's triped out Space Disco Jams, and as a bonus I put in a couple of Gino Soccio's mainstream Disco jams too..
Snowy Red was the one-man synth outfit born from the Belgian New Beat boom. Former Chainsaw guitarist, Micky Mike (real name Marcel Thiel) called it quits and Micky Mike disappeared, only for the band to resurface again in 2004 as a duo (with a guitarist) at the Belgian Independent Music festival.
I first heard of Snowy Red when he performed at NY's Peppermint Lounge back in like 1983, I became and instant fan of the driving synth minimal madness. The Snowy Red song Euroshima (Wardance) has to be one of the all time classic floor fillers. It still to this day holds up, and needs to be in a car commercial..
Awesome EBM industrial beats, swirly minimal synth, and those vocals, if your not a fan already, your going to be..
So I have for you today the first three Lp releases starting with..
The Shop Assistants were an indie pop band from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 1984, initially as Buba & The Shop Assistants. Soon after their first 7" release ("Something To Do" in 1984) Vocalist Aggi left and went on to play in a number of other bands including The Sugarcubes and The Pastels.
Aggi was replaced by Alex Taylor and the band released their Shopping Parade EP in 1985 to great acclaim scoring success in the independent charts.
In 1986 lead singer Alex left the band to form the Motorcycle Boy in 1987 with members of Meat Whiplash.
If your a fan of Fuzzpop, Shop Assistants deliver an intelligent indie Shangri-Las if they grew up in late '70s New York and hung out at CBGB's...
Xymox was founded in Nijmegen, Netherlands in 1983 by Ronny Moorings and Anke Wolbert. In 1984, after moving to Amsterdam as Xymox, Clan of Xymox became one of the pioneers of the dark and moody electronic music that later became known as Darkwave. Recorded at Edinburgh's famous Palladium Studios and co-produced by 4AD boss Ivo. An album full of tumbling electro beats, throbbing sequencers and moody vocals. 4AD released this MASTERPIECE in 1985, and its such a staple in its Darkwave genre that most SHOULD consider this LP the standard...
JYL (pronounced Jill)were a German electronic Synth pop band along the lines of Kraftwerk and early DEVO, but with a female singer. The group mainly consists of Jyl Porch on vocals, Ingo Werner onelectronics, and Christoph Haberer on electronic percussion and drum programming. The album is produced by the legend himself.. Klaus Schulze!
This is a fascinating nugget of electronic music that any fan of this genre could appreciate. Jyl has a great vocal range and, at times, sounds like Siouxie or David Sylvain, and sometimes Annie Lennox..
I remember going on a mad hunt to get this album, I finally got it at a cheezy record store in Long Island. ewww.
CCCheck out this AWESOME Australian Synth pop / Minimal Wave / Electro pop comp!
I forgot I had this Gem, I got it directly from the old Caroline Records Warehouse on Crosby St in NYC. Nicky Garratt of the UK Subs ran the place, and I worked at another distributor in Queens (Important Relativity), and we'd get things for each other...
WINK
Hence my collection..
